Jamie Ignao is a native Scotsman residing and performing on multi level platforms in New York city. He is an opera singer, multi-instrumentalist, guitar instructor and vocal coach.
In his opera career Jamie has played roles such as Arturo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Le Remendado from Bizet’s Carmen and Ralph Rackstraw in Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore. He also debuted at Carnegie hall with the remarkable theater brigade in several art pieces with their performance of ‘Opera Shorts’ in October 2013. Jamie continues to participate in Opera performances with upcoming roles on the east coast.
Jamie prides his himself in his varied roster of students ranging in all levels of skill and age. He holds recitals for his younger students at various New York venues providing them an opportunity to perform to a live audience showcasing their talents and giving them integral stage experience.
As well as Operatic endeavors, Jamie can be found performing various genres like blues/rock/funk/jazz/metal at venues across New York leading groups at the helm or as a hired gun. He continues to write and record in the studio, pouring over material covering all aspects of music. His creative musical inspiration draws from a furiously varied font of variety. Musicians and bands such as Luciano Pavarotti, Nicolai Gedda, James brown, Joshua Homme, Dave Grohl, Red Fang, Queens of the Stone Age….
It is Jamie’s goal to form an understanding and appreciation for all forms of music, regardless of genre associated labels and to further the musical education of all ages.
