Think you know how to pour the perfect Guinness pint? The Guinness perfect pour pint competition is happening Monday August 7th @ 7pm; and as your gracious hosts, we at Hibernia will be providing you all a chance to not only enter the contest but also walk out with your own personally engraved pint glass.
How does a trained bartender pour the perfect pint? First they go through a rigorous training process where they are taught about the six stages of pouring, which includes details about the type of glass being used, the angle of the glass held during the pouring process as well as the length of time that the pint must be poured. Raised at a 45 degree angle, the bartender must make sure to upright the glass just at the moment where the brew touches the harp. This is when the glass is set down allowed to rest for 119.53 seconds. The final step is when the bartenders push away from the tap and expertly top off the glass.
There’s only one way to pour a Guinness and people from Ireland will tell you that it’s not as easy as it looks, it’s truly an art. Going back to 1759 when Arthur Guinness leased the property the brewery now stands on for 9000 years, the beer has been made the same ever since. Not only can you cook with Guinness, for example, if you go on their website you will find recipes for Braised Pork Ribs, Beer Can Chicken, Braised Short Ribs, Bread and other various Cocktails and Pairings.
Brewed all over the world Guinness has millions of glasses poured daily. Swing by Hibernia to learn how to actually pour your perfect Guinness and get that etched pint glass on us.
