HAPPY NEW YEAR YOU BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE. Come Celebrate @ The Hib with all your favorite people, share some stories from the past year and welcome in 2016. Family, friends, free-spirits we would like to cordially invite you to our annual (yes sadly we only do it once a year) AWESOME NEW YEARS EVE PARTY, no charge of course if we know you, We will be rocking out the tunes, with an amazing balloon drop and free Champagne toast at midnight. Please come and get blitzed with us as we see the birth of a new year together……… ENJOY YOURSELVES!!!!
Ladies, Gents, Friends and Hibernia Family the next couple of weeks are gonna be fun. We got baseball, Halloween, Pumpkin carving, Football and of course the New York Marathon all to look forward to.
How about those METS!! Make sure you get into Hibernia bar to show your support for the Amazins in the World Series, Eddie and co. have been waiting a long time for this.
Show us your butchering skills on Thursday October 29th, join us once again to see who can carve the best pumpkin. What started years ago with just a few entries has grown into a big competition with amazing prizes, good beer and great friends. All pumpkins must be ready for the judges votes by 9:15. No tears. No stencils.
Halloween, it’s that time of year again folks, Hibernia’s All Hallow’s Eve party will take place on October 31st,
Lastly and by no means least, Jeff and Lorraine’s husband, Kieran are both set to run the NYC Marathon on Sunday November 1st for some great charities, we are very proud of them so please wish them best of luck and we welcome all kinds of signs to cheer Jeffrey and Bonner on.
Finally, after months and months and months of waiting, the regular season is in sight. While I’m hesitant to wish away the last few weeks of summer, the football drought has gone on far too long.
The Steelers first game is against the New England Patriots in Foxboro on September 10 at 8:30pm ET. It’s a Thursday night game, and I’m willing to bet that viewership will be absolutely insane, especially considering the fierce rivalry with the backdrop of the Pats Super Bowl victory and the distracting Deflategate scandal.
As always if you are not at the game you should be with the best Black ‘n’ Gold fans outside of Pittsburgh and waving yinz terrible towels down at Hibernia Bar. Iron City will be on the specials board as per usual, Gabriel will be pumping out the best buffalo wings in NYC and all your favorite tailgate tunes will verberate from our sound system. get ready, get excited………..LET’S GO!!!
Also we will be running our Hibernia elimination football pool, 20pts per entry, pick one team each week, no repeat picks, tie is a push, last man standing takes all…….simples……get your name and your points in and good luck.
That’s right folks it’s that time of year again, we are days away from turning 7 and in bar years we are almost 50!!
We want to show our gratitude to all our extended Hibernia family and friends, without you guys and your constant support we wouldn’t be the success we are today.
So this coming Sunday the 7th from 7pm, we will be celebrating our anniversary, if you are a regular here this is your invite and you know what to expect, all the usual Hibernia shenanigans, balloon drop, shots from the shoe, embarrassing photo’s(and plenty of sweet one’s too) plus some surprises but most importantly we get to celebrate with the people who got us here, YOU! So save the date and don’t forget about our Mets Baseball Trip on August 16th and the Golf Outing on June 17th.
Again Thank you all so much for your patronage.
Saturday May 23rd @ 3pm Hibernia Bar NYC and our new location the Winslow NYC will be streaming the Eurovision Song Contest live.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2015 will be the 60th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest musical event. The contest will take place in Vienna, Austria, following Conchita Wurst’s victory in the 2014 edition with her song “Rise Like a Phoenix”. This will be the second time that Austria host the contest after holding its 1967 edition also in Vienna. The contest will consist of two semi-finals, which will take place on 19 and 21 May, and a final, held on 23 May 2015. The shows will be presented by Mirjam Weichselbraun, Alice Tumler and Arabella Kiesbauer while Conchita Wurst will host the green room.
Forty countries will participate in the contest, with Australia debuting as a guest entrant, and Cyprus, the Czech Republic, and Serbia returning. Ukraine, however, announced their withdrawal due to financial and political reasons.
The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the longest running television shows in the world. It was on the 24th of May, 1956, that Europe saw the first ever Eurovision Song Contest. After 60 runnings, the contest is one of the most typical European traditions and without doubt, Europe’s favorite TV show! More than 1,400 songs already have taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2006, the song of Ireland’s Brian Kennedy was number 1,000. In 2003, Cyprus delivered the 900th song for the Eurovision Song Contest. In 1999, Lydia’s No Quiero Escuchar was the 800th song.
Number 100 was T’en Va Pas, performed by Esther OFARIM for Switzerland, De Troubadour performed by Lenny Kuhr was the 200th song in 1969. Malta brought number 300 in 1975; Singing This Song. He, He M’sieurs Dames was the 400th song performed on the Eurovision Song Contest, this time by France in 1980.
Luxembourg had the honour of presenting the 500th song in 1986, L’amour De Ma Vie, Portugal the 600th song in 1990 with Ha Sempre Slguem and in 1994, the Polish representative performed song number 700, To Nie Ja. The 1,100th song has been performed in 2008. After more than six decades featuring some 1,400 songs, the contest has become a modern classic, strongly embedded into Europe’s collective mind. “Did you know that not only stars like ABBA, Celine Dion, Cliff Richard and Julio Iglesias took part, but also dance act Riverdance thanks its fame to the Eurovision Song Contest?”.
We hope to have an amazing party, we will have our now famous balloon drop, we will have a prize for the best scorecard and also the random flag picking pool. Here at Hibernia and now the Winslow we are proud to be one of the very few to celebrate the ESC in NYC. It’s glam, it’s eurotrash and we love it, come join the party. Please remember that we have communal tables for everyone to enjoy and get involved with the show so unfortunately we cannot reserve or let people hog long tables.
