Watch Yankees Games at Irish Bar in NYC
The Yankees and Red Sox are neck and neck in their battle for the Wild Card spot with the Rays enjoying a decently comfortable lead in the AL East. While it looks like the Rays are on pace to lock up the divisional championship, we all know that September and October are a time for the greatest rivalry in sports. At the time of this article, the Yankees have fallen to the Red Sox in ten of their sixteen matchups on the season. In late September, the Yankees have a chance to narrow that gap when they head to Boston for the most important three game series of the regular season for both teams. Although they have lost the rivalry of the regular season, the Yankees are at the top of the Wild Card race, ahead of the Red Sox by two games and are looking to solidify their right to play ball in October by finishing the season with a hot September and a series win over their bitter rival.
Watch Mets Games at Irish Bar in NYC
The Yankees aren’t the only team in the Big Apple! The Mets, while only a few games behind in the wild card race, still have a slight chance to play in October, however, a lot will have to go right for the Mets; the Reds, Padres, Cardinals, and Phillies are all fighting for the number two wild card spot and the Mets are just on the outskirts, currently seven games behind the number two spot. Even though Mets star pitcher – Jacob DeGrom – is likely out for the season with a forearm injury, Major League Baseball has seen many crazier things than a possible miracle for the Mets. With seasoned playoff spark plugs like Francisco Lindor and Javier Baez, you can never count them out.
