What You Need to Know About Super Bowl LVII
Super Bowl 2023 will be played at the Arizona Cardinals’ home stadium, State Farm Stadium, in Glendale, Arizona. The Philadelphia Eagles won the right to represent the NFC by defeating the San Fransisco 49ers 31-7 at the NFC Championship. Their opponents, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 at the AFC Championship to punch their ticket to the big game. As some of you may remember, the AFC and NFC Championship Games in 2022 got a bit wild and exciting at Hibernia, so you won’t want to miss any of the fun now that it’s time for Super Bowl 2023.
Super Bowl 2023 is guaranteed to be historic. This is the first time in 103 years that two African American quarterbacks will start at the Super Bowl. It is also the first time two brothers will face off in the Super Bowl.

Who Is Favored to Win?
The Eagles are favored to win Super Bowl 2023 by two points according to the Vegas odds makers, but that is anything but a certainty since the game started as a pick ‘em. If you are wondering who will be hoisting the Lombardi at the end of the night, here are a few things to consider:
- Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes sustained a high ankle sprain in the AFC Championship. He has two weeks to rehab and will play in the game, but the health of his ankle will likely be far less than 100%.
- Eagles signal caller Jalen Hurts injured his throwing shoulder late in the season and missed two games. Although he has played well since then, he did not throw for as many yards as usual in the NFC Championship. Hurts’ shoulder may still be less than 100% for Super Bowl 2023.
- While the Chiefs have better stats overall in some areas, the Eagles have far more players who are having personal best seasons. Both teams have a record of 14 wins and 3 losses.
- The Chiefs have far more Super Bowl Experience than the Eagles. While the Eagles won a Super Bowl in 2018, there are almost no players from that squad who remain with the team. Since Mahomes has been with the Chiefs, he has played in the AFC Championship four times, winning three, and played in the Super Bowl twice, defeating the San Fransisco 49ers in 2019 and losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. Super Bowl 2023 is definitely going to be a nail biter with Mahomes in the pocket.
