This is a great season to be a Yankees fan. There is no doubt that they are the hottest team in baseball. They are in first place of the American League East and it isn’t even close. 2022 Major League Baseball All-Star Game
The 2022 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was held at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.
Top Yankees player Aaron Judge was selected in early rounds of voting as a starter for the All-Star Game. Yankees fans also saw Outfielder Giancarlo Stanton as a starter and Yankees Catcher Jose Trevino was selected as a reserve. The All-Star Game is always surrounded by other cool festivities and events, including:
- Day 1 of the 2022 MLB Draft: 4 second generation players were drafted in the first round for the first time ever.
- Gatorade All-Star Workout Day: Fans got a show watching Home Run Derby Participants at batting practice before the Derby.
- T-Mobile Home Run Derby: Juan Soto beat out Jose Rodriguez to take home the Home Run Derby Trophy.
This was also the first year where the “legends clause” was in effect. This gives the commissioner the ability to add players to the All-Star Game solely at his own discretion “in recognition of each player’s career achievements.”
Many names, including Cardinals Yadier Molina and Albert Pujols or Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers, had all been rumored as possibilities. In the end, Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera were selected.
Yankees Pass Dodgers as Favorites to Win World Series
If you ask the oddsmakers out in Vegas, the Yankees are now the statistical favorite to win the World Series going into the All-Star break. The Yankees have had a hot start to the season and it’s easy to see with them in the first place why they are the favorites to win.
Two of the largest looming issues for the Yankees won’t be an issue in the second half of the season.
Currently, Anthony Rizzo is scratched due to lower back stiffness. Rizzo is day-to-day, and this isn’t expected to be a long-term issue. Other injured Yankees players, Jonathan Loáisiga and Domingo Germán are expected to be available after the All-Star break as well.
