Not only have the Nets had a solid start to the season, but Brooklyn Nets fans have every reason to think that things are going to get even better. The team has faced a lot of adversity to start the season and has still played well and produced wins. As some of the early season issues begin to clear up, there is no reason to expect anything less than a stellar season.
Brooklyn Nets Fan Favorite – KD Playing Through a Shoulder Injury
One of Brooklyn Nets Fan favorites, Kevin Durant is better injured than most players could hope to be healthy on a good day. Even playing through a sore shoulder, he has been shooting at more than 52%. He has also had more than 20 points in every game so far this season. KD continues to receive treatment on his shooting shoulder and play through the pain. Coach Nash described KD’s shoulder issue as a “tweak” that isn’t expected to get worse. KD is not expected to miss any time and should be back to 100% in no time.
James Harden Adjusting to Rule Changes
Harden came to the Brooklyn Nets last year, mid-season. He was a great addition to the team and made an immediate impact. He played more than 36 minutes per game in the 36 games he played in and averaged 24.6 points per game with 8.5 rebounds and 10.9 assists per game.
This season he is playing virtually the same number of minutes per game, but is averaging slightly less than 20 points per game. This is because of a change in rules that has made it more difficult for him to draw fouls. However, Brooklyn Nets fans know that Harden is a smart player and has already started to make adjustments.
The Addition of Patty Mills
Patty Mills came to the Nets from the San Antonio Spurs. He tied the record for the most three point shots made in a player’s debut with a new team. Mills is the king of the three pointer. In the Nets recent win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, he hit nine threes, which was a career high. Mills might have started the season a little bit inconsistent, but that’s to be expected. He is only going to get more solid and gain even better chemistry with the team as the season progresses. If you’re a die hard Brooklyn Nets Fan, you should keep an eye on Mills.
Nic Claxton is Returning
Nic Claxton is one of the most promising young bigs in the league. He has made himself invaluable to the Nets as a strong defensive player in his first two seasons. Claxton started the first game of the season and seemed to fade in the next few games before being out with a non-COVID related illness.
Coach Nash doesn’t seem concerned, but the time away has still meant the need for a longer ramping up process. Claxton spent a few days with the Long Island Nets, but has already rejoined Brooklyn. Expect to see Nic Claxton back out on the court soon, much to the glee of Brooklyn Nets fans. If last year’s connection with Harden was any indication, they can provide Brooklyn with a lot of points this season going forward.
