James Harden had started to look like the Harden of old – and not the good one. With his perpetually injured hamstring, he was reminiscent of the Harden who wanted out of Houston. With that, we saw Harden and Milsap out and Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and Ben Simmons traded to New York in the latest Nets blockbuster trade.
New Look Nets
While the Nets haven’t seen as of yet what Simmons can do, Seth Curry and Andre Drummond are quickly integrating into the team and making an impact. Both players were immediately inserted into the playing lineup. Curry had an outstanding game on Valentine’s Day helping the Nets to defeat the Sacramento Kings and snapping a nasty losing streak. Curry put up 23 points with seven rebounds and five assists, leading the team, in that game.
Nets Blockbuster Trade Addition #1 – Seth Curry
Seth Curry is a Duke Alum who happens to have the fifth highest career three-point percentage in history and has been playing more than 30 minutes a game for the Nets in just his short time with the team. During this time, he has averaged more than 19 points per game and over four assists and four rebounds per game. All of those averages are up from his stats in Philadelphia so far this season.
You can expect to see big things from Seth Curry as he aims to get the Nets headed back in the right direction. So far, he is bonding well with his new team and fits right in on the court showing some immediate impact in games, especially where morale and production are concerned. The longer he plays with the team, the more he will see his playing time increased.
Nets Complete Blockbuster Trade #2 – Andre Drummond
Andre Drummond has looked great on both offense and defense as a Net. Like Curry, he has seen a rise in all of his measurables. He’s up from six points to almost ten per game and from eight rebounds to almost eleven in virtually the same number of minutes per game. Brooklyn needs and welcomes the production, to be sure.
Drummond is a veteran in the league, having been drafted back in 2012. He has a lot of experience and is a great locker room guy, but still gets it done on the court. He could be a real staple for the Nets going forward this season.
Nets Complete Blockbuster Trade # 3 Ben Simmons
The Nets also acquired Ben Simmons in this blockbuster trade. Simmons has yet to play for the Nets. Everything is still just speculation, but if the past is any indicator, Simmons has been solid in the past and should be a good addition for the Nets. The only real question is when will we see him out on the court.
Ben Simmons comes to us from Australia, by way of Louisiana State University. He was originally drafted in 2016 by the 76ers and is a three time NBA All-Star, two time NBA All-Defensive First Team and former NBA Rookie of the Year. Once he hits the court, he’s bound to make an impact after being successfully traded to the Nets.
What’s Next for the Nets?
The Nets are poised to only get better at this point. Whatever the situation was with Harden, Irving and Durant, it’s over now. The locker room is simpatico and the team is moving on. They do still have a real chance at a championship, but it is going to take a lot to make it happen. A big key to the future is the health of Kevin Durant and when it comes to that, only time will tell.
